ROK Alliance Day

It commemorates the signing of the U.S.–ROK Mutual Defense Treaty in 1953, marking the formal beginning of the alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea. History of ROK Alliance Day

After the Korean War armistice in 1953, the U.S.–ROK Mutual Defense Treaty was signed to ensure both countries would cooperate in defense and maintain peace in the Pacific region. This treaty laid the foundation for military, political, and strategic partnership between the United States and South Korea.

ROK Alliance Day was established in September 2021 by the Korea Defense Veterans Association (KDVA) to honor the millions of American and Korean veterans who have fought in the Korean War and those who have served in Korea since the treaty took effect.
