In honour of Eleven09 Day, observed on November 9, we recognise the contributions of military veterans and support their transition into civilian work and life.

History of Eleven09 Day

Eleven09 Day was established in memory of an ambush on November 9, 2007, when six soldiers from the 1st Platoon, Chosen Company, 2-503rd, 173rd ABCT in Afghanistan were killed. In response to this tragedy, the organisation named Eleven09 was set up to help veterans apply the leadership and life-skills they acquired in the military to meaningful civilian careers.

Why is Eleven09 Day important?

This day matters because it draws attention to the ongoing challenge many veterans face when transitioning from military service to civilian employment and life. It emphasises that their skills—discipline, leadership, teamwork—are valuable beyond uniformed service.
