History of National Youth Confidence Day
The observance was founded around 2018 by Tiffany R. Lewis, founder of the Confident Girl Mentoring Program. The goal was to highlight the importance of building a positive foundation of confidence for youth and to mobilize adults and peers to support young people’s growth. Over time, the day has been adopted by educational, nonprofit, and youth outreach groups to create space for recognition, encouragement, and community engagement.
Why the Day Matters
Adolescence and early adulthood are stages often marked by self‑doubt, social pressure, and identity questions. A dedicated day of affirmation reminds young people that their value, voice, and potential matter. This recognition can act as a spark of confidence—small encouragements can help a youth try new things, speak up, or believe they deserve to aim high.
Furthermore, National Youth Confidence Day encourages adults to step into roles as mentors, listeners, and supporters rather than just critics. It draws attention to how encouragement, recognition, and opportunity can shift trajectories. When people invest belief in youth, it often becomes something they carry forward themselves.
- It celebrates the potential and character of young people
- It encourages positive role models to engage
- It highlights how affirmation supports growth
- It inspires community involvement in youth development
- It reminds us that confidence is built, not innate

How would you like to spend National Youth Confidence Day?
Tick what fits you, and we will put together ideas made for this day — not for any day.
You can take part in ways both big and small. Reach out to a young person in your life—share something you believe is special about them, listen to their dreams, or encourage a step they’re hesitating to take. If you’re part of a school, club, or community group, you might organize a confidence workshop, a mentorship kickoff, or a public affirmation board where youth are celebrated.
Social media can also be a tool: post stories, shoutouts, or encouragement using #NationalYouthConfidenceDay. Invite local organizations or leaders to speak or host an event. The core is intentional support, not grand gestures—consistent kindness and encouragement are what make the difference.
